Melbourne Engagement & Prewedding: May & Ray

Hello folks! It has been a long time since we updated cause of the peak wedding season, our vacation and also more importantly, an adventure of a lifetime for my best friend’s wedding!

I first met May through my university days in Melbourne. Our friendship is really what made me love and cherish my uni days, and also what makes me miss Melbourne most. May is one of the sweetest, easy-going down to earth and kindest people I know.

She is also not who is big on all the romantic, big action/girly frills, so when she first told me about Ray, I knew he was going to be different. From the simple things like seeing her light up at the very mention of his name, and telling me about the funny jokes and stories they have encountered, you could tell how much she adores him.

And sure enough, after meeting Ray, he is definitely a guy of true character, and they truly make a dynamic couple! Even though they were both very busy individuals, they made as much effort as they could to understand and support each other.
Nothing could deter them, even when work caused them to be apart in two different cities in Australia. Seeing how Ray would fly back to Melbourne on weekends just to visit May and vice versa, how Ray didn’t mind spending his whole weekend just helping May at work while waiting for her, how May flew up to Sydney to accompany and help Ray on his move home and eight hour drive.

All these really put into perspective of the phrase “love can move mountains”.

When I heard they (FINALLY!) got engaged, I was so, so happy for them! I visited them in Melbourne earlier this year, and that was when we had this casual photoshoot session.

The cafe we photograph at is of important significance in their relationship as May spends 99% of her time there! The cafe is a beautiful warehouse that was originally a sawmill and then furniture factory. If you are wondering, the brick walls are the original look of the warehouse (not made to suit the trend)!
During our shoot, we explored the beautiful parks in Melbourne city too, where some of the trees were starting to turn into gold hues too. You could tell how at ease they were with each other during the shoot. The roses May was carrying was part of the 99 roses Ray got for her as a surprise, to celebrate their engagement!

During the wedding, May said something that really touched my heart. It happened while the other bridesmaids were taking turns to get ready for bed, and just us two planning for the gatecrash “Ten Promises Card” for Ray to read out loud and sign.
May thought for a really long time, before she said “I really can’t think of any promises he can make. To me, he has fulfilled all of them. He has done everything for me.”

If I could sum up my emotions for my best friend’s wedding, and all the love in the world that May and Ray had for each other, this would be it.

That I know my best friend has found her best man, Ray, whom I know we can rely on to take care of her for life. And also that Ray has found an amazing one in a million gem of a wife in my dear friend, May. Congrats again you two! Love you lots!
